Tottenham Coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Striker Son Heung-min could miss the rest of this season through injury, MySportDab reports.
The South Korea international has been ruled out for “a number of weeks” which was announced today after an elbow fracture last weekend.
Son was injured during the early period of the match against Aston Villa on Sunday.
MySportDab understands that he received treatment and then returned to the pitch, playing on despite the injury.
Son ended up scoring two goals in the match, including a 95th-minute winner.
But, after the match, he had a scan which confirmed that he had fractured his elbow.
Son will now undergo surgery later this week, with Spurs announcing that he’s expected to miss a number of weeks.
But, Spurs Coach Mourinho later revealed that he doesn’t think Son will play again this season.
Mourinho also admitted that the injury puts pressure on both Moura and Bergwijn.
Both players will be relied upon to prove the goals for Tottenham, as they have no striker available to call up in Son’s place with frontman Harry Kane out with an injury.
“The situation is worse,” said Mourinho.
“That is very obvious.
“There is nothing anyone can do. We are going to play with the those we have available.
“I was very disturbed about not having attacking options on the bench. Now I don’t have attacking options on the pitch.
“I believe that Troy Parrott is not ready and Ryan Sessegnon is also not a striker.
“No strikers. Nothing.
“The only help we can have is our crowd, the Tottenham fans.
“That is the only thing I ask, because to the players, I cannot ask more than what they have given for the club.”
Son’s absence is a major blow to Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four this season and qualify for the Champions League next season.
He had scored four goals in his last three Premier League games, helping Spurs to three consecutive wins.
