Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and a host of Premier League clubs have ganged up against Manchester City Champions League appeal, MySportDab reports.

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City could be stopped from playing in the UEFA Champions League next season after Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and others launched a bid to stop them playing while their appeal was ongoing.

UEFA has banned Manchester City from playing in Europe for the next two years for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

The Citizens have appealed the ban and have now reportedly told players they are confident that they will still play in the Champions League.

Manchester City are hopeful that their punishment can be “stalled”, meaning it will be suspended for the time being until the end of their appeal.

MySportDab understands this allows them to play in the Champions League next season despite the original ban being effective.

However, the Daily Mail claims that eight of the Premier League’s top-10 clubs except from Manchester City and Sheffield United are desperate to see the league champions punished.

The group of clubs have written to a legal firm, which then contacted the Court of Arbitration for Sport to stop the ban appeal.

A source told the Daily Mail that clubs believe Manchester City will be able to get off without any punishment if they are allowed to delay the punishment.

“The feeling is that its not enough,’ the source said.

“For so long, City have gotten away with breaching the rules at the expense of other clubs that have been unable to qualify for the Champions League.

“The main fear is that they will be allowed to delay any punishment and if they win the appeal, get off without any punishment, which would be absolutely outrageous.”

Manchester City’s appeal date is so far yet to be confirmed and MySportDab understands it could be pushed further back due to the coronavirus outbreak.

This means that City’s appeal will be unable to be heard before the start of preliminary qualifying rounds for next year’s Champions League.

Due to this, it is possible for City to be allowed to play in the Champions League next season, as it was believed that the appeal would have to be heard before the qualifying matches started.
