Manchester United Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now provided a new update about defender Harry Maguire’s injury, MySportDab reports.
Solskjaer is positive that Maguire will be fit for the Europa League final against Villarreal after talking to him earlier today.
Maguire picked up an ankle injury in a 3-1 win against Aston Villa last week, which made him a doubt for the European final on May 29.
However, Solskjaer has confirmed that he had a positive conversation with Maguire about his injury.
After the conversation, Solskjaer is optimistic that the centre back will be back for the match against Villarreal.
He said: ‘Hopefully there will be some good news over the next few days but let’s wait on Harry.
‘He has shown his importance for us. People realise the importance of a good player then they get injured.
‘Harry is our team leader and we are clearly missing him at the moment. I’ll give him some time.
‘He’s made some progress but we don’t want to force anything. Harry wants to play so much but he can’t take risks either.
‘After my talks with him this morning, he was positive. We must remain positive and think he will be fit enough, until then we have to say no. I’m still optimistic.’
Harry Maguire is often criticised but now Manchester United have struggled in defence without him.
The Red Devils have conceded six goals in the two matches without Maguire in defence.
