AS Roma have now officially announced the signing of Tammy Abraham from Chelsea in a £34m deal, MySportDab reports.

Tammy Abraham has now signed a five-year contract with the Italian club and gets the No 9 shirt.

Abraham arrived in Italy on Sunday to complete his AS Roma medical, and he play under former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Abraham’s exit was imminent after Chelsea signed Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan in a £98million club transfer fee record.

Abraham waited for Premier League rivals Arsenal to step up their interest but Jose Mourinho convinced him to join the Serie A.

Speaking for the first time at AS Roma, Abraham said: ‘The club made it very clear that they wanted me and I’m happy to join AS Roma.

‘Roma is a club that’s always fighting for titles and trophies. I’ve won many major trophies and I want to do it all again, so I’m determined to help this team to achieve that.

‘It’s an honour to be the No. 9 at the club and I just can’t wait to help the team.’

Abraham was on the bench for Chelsea’s 3-0 win against Crystal Palace as he prepared to leave.

The deal Chelsea agreed with Roma includes a buy back clause of £68m.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia in a goodbye speech said that Abraham will always be welcome at the club.

‘Tammy is one of own and will always be welcomed back at Stamford Bridge,’ she said.

‘We have seen him progress through our academy and into the first-team squad.

‘We are grateful for his contribution to the team across all levels.

‘His many goals in a Chelsea shirt will never be forgotten. I’m sure all Chelsea fans also wish Tammy a long and successful career.’

Mourinho is expected to play Abraham as Roma’s main striker for the next Serie A season, after Edin Dzeko left to join Inter Milan last week.

Abraham was part of the Chelsea’s youth academy during Mourinho’s second spell at Stamford Bridge in 2015.

During the 2019-20 season, Abraham played 47 matches across all competitions and scored 18 goals.
