Jesse Lingard has now rejected a new contract offer from Manchester United due to his lack of playing time, MySportDab reports.

The England player enjoyed a fantastic period last season at West Ham but must now fight for his spot at Old Trafford.

West Ham tried to sign Lingard during the summer transfer window but the two clubs failed to reach an agreement.

The 28-year-old so far has not started a match for United this season and is now in the final year of his contract at the club.

Now, According to the Evening Standard, Lingard has snubbed a contract extension offer, which means he could leave the club permanently on a free transfer at the end of the season.

During his time at West Ham, Lingard scored nine goals and provided five assists in 16 matches.

Despite failing to sign Lingard in the summer, there are reports that West Ham could try again in January.

MySportDab understands that Lingard wants more assurances over game time at Manchester United.

He is concerned that a lack of playing time will affect his spot in the England squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking about Lingard, England Coach Gareth Southgate said: ‘We are aware that Jesse has a tougher challenge with the quality of attacking players at United.

‘But they still have many matches in different competitions so hopefully he can take advantage of that and take on the challenge.

‘He has recovered brilliantly over the last 12 months from a difficult time and he has shown his quality.’

After missing Euro 2020, Lingard scored twice and provided an assist for England in the 4-0 win against Andorra on Sunday.
