The Copa Del Rey quarter-final draw has offered up a number of exciting ties that will take place between February 1 and 3, with Athletic Club’s match against Real Madrid as they face off in a repeat of the Supercopa de Espana final.
However, some clubs in the draw will feel hard done because the quarter-finals coincide with the South American countries’ World Cup qualifiers.
The one-legged ties from the previous rounds will remain in place in the quarter-finals which means matches drawn at fulltime will go into 30 minutes extra time and then penalty shootout.
On Friday, World Cup and European Championship winner David Villa helped complete the draw, with the quarter-final ties being as follows:
Athletic Club vs Real Madrid
Real Sociedad vs Real Betis
Valencia vs Cadiz
Rayo Vallecano vs Real Mallorca
The fixtures will be played between February 1 and 3 and the winners will advance through the path which has now been set following the draw today.
