After ending the season with Barca, De Jong will now join the Netherlands squad for the UEFA Nations League Matches.

The Dutch player will hope that his future is sorted out before the start of next season.

Right now, Barcelona are under pressure to sell so they can make good transfer this summer due to the club’s financial situation.

However, Coach Xavi is not exactly happy about losing the Dutchman.

Speaking in a press conference, he said: “I have it countless times that Frenkie is a very important player for us.

“He’s a crucial man. Then we also have a financial situation here and a decision has to be made in general.”

At Barca, De Jong played 139 matches but has only won the Copa del Rey.

He still has four years left on his current contract having joined from Ajax in 2019.
