Cristiano Ronaldo has now finally reacted to rumours of him leaving Manchester United, MySportDab reports.
The Portuguese has slammed the ‘lies’ in response to news about his future.
This is the first time Ronaldo would react since telling Manchester United that he wants to leave.
In response to a post by a fan account on Instagram, Ronaldo slammed the media amid the rumours surrounding his future.
Under the post, Ronaldo wrote: ‘It is obviously impossible for people to stop talking about me for one day.
‘Otherwise they don’t make money. They know that if they don’t lie they won’t get people’s attention. So continue doing this until you get the news right.’
He also added a crying face emoji and a laughing emoji to the comment.
MySportDab understands that Ronaldo was talking about Sir Alex Ferguson trying to convince him to stay at Manchester United.
Ronaldo and Ferguson have a very close relationship.
The 37-year-old once referred to the legendary football manager as a father figure for him.
Ferguson arrived at United’s training ground on Tuesday for a board meeting but his presence led to rumours of a Cristiano Ronaldo intervention.
However, new reports suggest that Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes is working on a return to Sporting Lisbon.
Ronaldo informed Manchester United of his plans to leave last month and missed out on the pre-season tour.
He is determined to join a team in the Champions League, after United failed to qualify last season.
But the list of suitors has gone down throughout the transfer window as Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid rejected him.
Now, According to The Athletic, Ronaldo’s agent is in talks with Sporting Lisbon about a potential return for the player that left in 2003.
Sporting would play in the Champions League next season as they finished second last season.
However, Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim is not entirely convinced about signing Ronaldo.
It remains unclear if the Portuguese club could afford Ronaldo’s £360,000-a-week salary.
Ronaldo and Mendes held talks with United’s hierarchy this week, where he did not change his mind about leaving.
The club had hoped to convince Ronaldo but the talks failed so far.
The player is unlikely to play in United’s Friendly match against Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday.
