Erik ten Hag has now slammed his Manchester United players after their defeat against Manchester City on Sunday, MySportDab reports.

Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both scored Hat-tricks to ensure City got all three points and remain one point behind leaders Arsenal.

City won 6-3 and at times appeared they were playing a different match completely against their great rivals.

Speaking to Sky Sports and BBC Sport after the match, Ten Hag was not happy about the performance and claimed his players lacked the belief to win at City.

He said: ‘You will always have a problem against Manchester City If you don’t fight like we didn’t. This is not similar to Brentford, that day we were horrible.

‘Today we wanted to run but had no belief.’

‘I don’t think the Brentford game can be compared,’ he added.

‘This is different from the Brentford game. Today we wanted to run, but failed to follow the principles and rules.’

The Dutchman warned his players that they would be punished on Monday for their miserable performance.

‘I will show the team tomorrow what we should have done. In the first goal, we got the ball but lost it and they scored. It’s unacceptable.’

Phil Foden scored the first goal inside the first 10minutes when City had had various chances to score with their early pressure.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag also claimed he would ask his players why they didn’t bring what he has expected from a ‘different team and spirit’ yesterday.

‘I am very surprised we didn’t show it on the pitch, I have a different team, spirit and we did not look convincing at all,’ he said.

‘I will found out why when i talk to my players.’

Haaland and Foden became the first Manchester City players in Premier League history to score hat-tricks in the same match.
