Juventus midfielder Paulo Dybala has admitted that he was very close to leaving the Serie A Club in 2019, MySportDab reports.
Dybala also confirmed interest from Premier League clubs in the last summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old was having less playing time at Juventus and the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham submitted bids for the Argentine.
Paris Saint-Germain also tried to sign Dybala but Juventus were unsure about selling him.
Dybala never left Juventus which helped him become a key player in Coach Maurizio Sarri’s squad.
Dybala Interview
“It was around last year at this point when Juventus didn’t believe in me, didn’t want to keep me here,’ Dybala told CNN.
“And in no time I was contacted and there were different clubs that were interested. Some of those clubs are Manchester United and Tottenham. I think for a long time there were talks, then Paris Saint-Germain also showed interest.
“I never spoke directly to any of these clubs, but there were talks with them. However, my intention then was to stay.
“It hasn’t been a good year or a positive way over the last six months, so I didn’t want to leave like that because I think I had shown the club what I could offer.
“So I also let them know of my intention to stay, work to improve and give my best.
“Yes, it was not easy because Juventus’ intentions were absolutely different, but when the market closed, there was no more time and when Sarri came in, I improved a lot.
“The team started playing better again and that made me stay at the club until today.”
Dybala is under contract at Juventus until June 2022, and the Serie A club yet to offer him a new contract.
He has played 216 matches for Juventus since his transfer from Palermo in 2015, with 91 goals and providing 36 assists.
