Cristiano Ronaldo has now surprisingly praised his long-time rival Lionel Messi in his new Interview, MySportDab reports.
Ronaldo has been the main talk of the week after his interviews with Piers Morgan.
During the controversial interview, the Portuguese also slammed the current state of Manchester United, criticised Manchester United Coach Erik ten Hag.
However, he also discussed other topics such as Lionel Messi, his rival from playing in La Liga with Real Madrid.
From 2008 to 2021, Ronaldo and Messi won the Ballon d’Or 12 times, but Luka Modric ended that run in 2018.
Messi is currently ahead of Ronaldo, winning the award seven times so far in his football career.
In the second part of his interview, Ronaldo praised the PSG player.
‘Top and amazing player, he is magic,’ Ronaldo said.
‘Together, we have shared the stage for 16 years, imagine. So, I have good relationship with him.
‘We are not friends like visiting each other in our homes, no but its like we are teammates.
‘I really respect how he always speaks about me. Even his wife, they are always respect and they’re from Argentina.
‘My girlfriend is also Argentine. So good. What else to say about Messi? A fantastic player doing great things for football.
‘He’s definitely the best player I’ve ever seen play (excluding myself) and Zidane.’
With Ronaldo’s future uncertain, and Messi’s PSG contract will expire at the end of the season, both players are close to the end.
Also, Ronaldo joked that if they played together for the same club, they would definitely ‘sell a lot of shirts’.
