Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has signed a new contract extension with the Premier League club until 2025, with the option of an extra year, MySportDab reports. 

McTominay has become one of United’s consistent midfielders this season, and has impressed Coach Ole Gunnar Solksjaer while Paul Pogba was absent.

The 23-year-old has played 75 matches for the first-team since his debut in 2017 against Arsenal.

Speaking about McTominay new contract, Coach Ole Gunnar Solksjaer said the Scotland international is a key asset to the team.

Solskjaer said: ‘Scott has done very well since I became Coach and is a vital part of our midfield. He brings skill, tenacity and determination to the game and we know that Scott’s attributes are a major asset to the squad.

‘As always, the academy is the bedrock of the club and having come through the United system everyone knows that he has the exact mentality that you need to succeed.

‘I look forward to seeing him improve in the coming years.’

Scott McTominay has played 28 games across all competitions this season for United, scored five goals and provided one assist.

Speaking about his new contract, he added: ‘I understand there are other things to think about right now, I’m very happy to sign a new contract and play a part in the future for the club.

‘United is all I have ever known and I hope to show my passion for the club every time I play on the pitch. I will give everything for this club.

‘I want to thank the Coach for his faith in me and everyone at the club that has helped me grow.

‘I’m hoping to ending the season on a high and hopefully achieve our aims.’

Scott McTominay is desperate to secure Champions League football for next season after his fine form with the club.

United are fifth in the Premier League, five points behind Chelsea in the race for Champions League football eight games left.
