Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has confirmed a shock change in his gameplan ahead of Crystal Palace clash, MySportDab reports.

Manchester United takes on Crystal Palace in a mid-week Premier League clash that will see the club consolidate their chase for a top-four finish.

Manchester United recently signed Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley and the Manchester United manager was grilled on whether he will hand Weghorst a Manchester United debut in the Crystal Palace game.

Erik Ten Hag originally wanted to go with Anthony Martial in the game against Crystal Palace.

Speaking in the pre-match interview, the Dutch manager said he will consider a “rethink” on starting Martial in the Crystal Palace game after he withdrew the Frenchman from the Manchester Derby at halftime.

Erik Ten Hag apparently did not plan to hand Wout Weghorst a start in the Crystal Palace game but has been compelled to have a rethink.

In his words, Ten Hag said;

“I have to think about Weghorst making his debut for the club against Crystal Palace.”

Wout Weghorst may certainly start for Manchester United after Erik Ten Hag also said Anthony Martial was complaining before the Manchester Derby and “did not train with the team” but ”begged to start.”

“I hoped to avoid that he was getting injured, but he was complaining,” the Dutchman explained.

“That’s why he also didn’t train in the week and was a question mark [for the derby]. We decided – and he decided as well – to start. He begged to start.”

As things stand, it is pretty clear Erik Ten Hag may likely axe off Anthony Martial from the lineup that faced City and go for new loan signing Wout Weghorst in the frontline.

Manchester United takes on Crystal Palace today by 9pm Nigerian time and 20:00 GMT
