Chelsea have now reach an agreement to sign right-back Malo Gusto from Lyon, MySportDab reports.
Despite Blues wanting the player this January, Lyon have refused and he will stay with the French club until the end of the season.
The Blues want to sign the right-back to provide cover for injured Reece James and 19 year-old France under-21 defender Gusto is the man.
Lyon also released a public statement that Gusto will remain at the club until next season before reaching any agreement with Chelsea.
Lyon Coach Laurent Blanc said: ‘I have been assured that Cherki and Malo Gusto will not leave this January.’
However, the two clubs now finally made a compromise with a deal worth £26m between the two clubs.
Now, Gusto will travel to England for a medical and then return back to Lyon before Chelsea’s squad in the summer.
He and Christopher Nkunku will both join Chelsea in the summer after the Blues reach an agreement with Leipzig for £53m.
Gusto is Chelsea’s seventh signing so far this season and they are not ready to stop.
There remains the possibility of another signing of a central midfielder this January.
Chelsea have struggled in their attempts to sign Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez, Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Everton’s Amadou Onana.
