Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has broken his long-held silence on the rumored faceoff with Chelsea ex-manager, Graham Potter, MySportDab reports.
Chelsea ditched plan to appoint a new immediate manager to succeed Potter after weighing into the alternative of an interim manager to buy time to assess potential new managers for the vacant job at Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard was finally appointed as interim manager to see the club through to the end of the season when a new manager will be appointed.
Since taking over from Potter on interim basis, Frank Lampard has struggled to eke out a win for Chelsea in his first three games in charge.
He suffered defeats against Wolves, Real Madrid, and Brighton as Chelsea’s debacle continued.
Speaking in a post match press conference after the defeat to Brighton, Frank Lampard aimed a dig on Graham Potter after he seemed to attribute the team’s defeat to fitness issues.
He said;
‘I think the team needs physical work and this is a problem that must be addressed right now.”
His comments was said to be an attack on how Graham Potter handled Chelsea’s fitness.
Now, Lampard has seemed to reverse the comment when he was asked whether he is blaming anyone for Chelsea debacle.
Speaking ahead of the game against Real Madrid, Lampard replied;
“No, that is is how you have taken it. I take responsibility for on all clubs that I manage but fitness issues in the team have to be addressed going forward.”
Graham Potter was sacked as Chelsea manager after poor campaign with the club this season.
He, however, led Chelsea to the quarterfinal of the Champions League where they faced Real Madrid and lost the first leg under Frank Lampard.
Chelsea will host the Laliga and European giants in Stamford Bridge in what will be Frank Lampard’s fourth game incharge.
