Newcastle are back to the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, MySportDab reports.

It was a milestone achievement in the club’s history after going against the odds to finally clinch the ticket for Champions League football next season.

The Magpies sealed ticket for the Europe’s elite club competition next season after settling for a dramatic 0-0 draw with relegation-threatened Leicester City.

It was a feisty clash between the two sides at St James Park

While the Magpies chased a top four finish, Leicester were battling to survive relegation.

Newcastle United hit the bar three times but could not break the goal deadlock as Dean Smith lined up a five-man defense at the back to frustrate attempts by the hosts.

Newcastle needed a draw to secure a top four finish but Leicester City needed a win to edge on safety from relegation with just a match to go before the season ends.

They held off the pressure by Newcastle United and ran out with a point although it was a disappointing result.

In the other hand, it was a celebration galore at St James Park despite dropping two points against Leicester City.

The Magpies celebrated because they have now opened a four-point gap on challengers Liverpool on the top four race.

Manchester United and Liverpool are the two teams now left in the top four race.

Liverpool will be crossing their fingers awaiting the result of Manchester United’s outstanding clash against Chelsea in the midweek.

A win or draw for the Red Devils will see the club join Newcastle United, Arsenal and Manchester United in the top four race.

After the draw against Leicester, Newcastle will be making their first appearance in Champions League next season after 20 years.
