Liverpool have been on the trail of the Brighton midfield sensation as the Reds gets ready to beef up their squad ahead of next Premier League campaign.

Talks between Liverpool and the 2022 World Cup winner has reached advanced levels with the Reds reportedly closing in on a deal.

Now, Liverpool have to wrestle with Premier League rivals Manchester City to sign Marc Allister as per the Mirror.

Manchester City are reportedly eyeing a replacement for IIkay Gundogan who has been linked to a summer exit from Etihad.

Marc Allister has been identified as a prime target to succeed Gundogan at Manchester City as the Premier League champions look to deepen the squad’s quality depth for the title defense next season.

Bernardo Silva is also linked to Manchester City exit at the end of the season hence the Citizens will have to be active in the summer transfer window to refurbish the squad.

With Liverpool already advanced on the race to sign Marc Allister, chances are Manchester City are more likely to land the 24-year-old with a promise of Champions League football next summer.

However, Marc Allister’s next destination is still unclear with the two clubs vying for his services.

The Argentina international has been key to Brighton’s success in the Premier League this season.

Brighton’s decision on Marc Allister is still a subject of speculation but the Seagulls knows he is more likely to leave at the end of the season.

There are projections the club may likely demand £70m from any club interested in signing the player.
