Marco Asensio has left Real Madrid as his contract at the club comes to an end, MySportDab reports.
Asensio’s contract with the Los Blancos comes to an end on June 30 but the club have officially confirmed the imminent exit of the player following the final matchday game against Atletico Bilbao.
Asensio joined Real Madrid from Mallorca in 2014 but was loaned back to the club the same year.
He had another loan spell with Espanyol before returning to Real Madrid in 2016.
Despite a brilliant career at his former club and a standout display when appearing for Real Madrid, the Spaniard struggled for game time at Real Madrid.
He was reportedly vocal on his lack of game time at Santiago Bernabeu and has spoken with Carlo Ancelotti of the need to give him enough playing time.
According to reports, Asensio was unhappy with his bit part role at Real Madrid and have eyed a move away from the club this summer when his contract expires.
However, Real Madrid were interested in renewing his deal and have tabled a new offer for him which he rejected.
Meanwhile, PSG were in contact with the player and were ready to sign him as a free agent when his contract at Real Madrid expires.
Aston Villa also made a move for the player which was turned down as the Spaniard favored a move to French capital.
Real Madrid have confirmed today Marco Asensio has left the club after he refused to renew his contract with the club.
As per Fabrizio Romano, PSG are closing in on signing Marco Asensio with verbal agreements reached for a €10m yearly contract which will run till 2027.
The move is expected to be sealed in the coming days with reports emerging Asensio has agreed to all terms on key details of the contract.
Marco Asensio made 190 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 37 goals for the club.
He has won the La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Supercopa de Espana with the club.
