Chelsea have suffered a devastating injury blow ahead of the club’s preseason campaign, MySportDab reports.
The Blues, who are warming up for a fresh challenge next season after a disappointing 2022/23 season, have been dealt a fresh injury blow as they prepare for their preseason campaign in the US.
According to Evening Standard, Chelsea top defender, Reece James is a doubt for the club’s preseason and may be ruled out of the squad.
The report adds Reece James, who has been struggling with a niggling knee problem, has complained again he has been feeling pain on his knee.
Chelsea have acted swiftly following the report by sending Reece James for a scan to uncover the problem with hopes it will not be serious to rule him out of the club’s preseason tour in the US.
As of the time of filing this report, an update of the scan result is yet to filter in but the news may be worrying to Chelsea fans who missed Reece James after just eight Premier League matches for the club last season.
James picked up a knee issue in October and was ruled out of the 2022 World Cup.
He was back to action on February but was again sidelined as the injury reoccurred leaving him with just 14 Premier League starts for the club.
Overall, the England top right-back did not have a fruitful 2022/23 season but was hoping to start strong with the team ahead of the upcoming 2023/24 season before the report of the knee issue resurfaced.
A positive result will be expected from the scan result as Chelsea set out for new chapter under English football veteran Mauricio Pochettino.
