The Super Falcons of Nigeria battled Canada to a dramatic draw in their opening FIFA Women’s World Cup clash, MySportDab reports.

First Half Report

It was a difficult game for the Super Falcons of Nigeria right from start as Canada proved more dominant mounting constant pressure throughout the game.

It was largely a one-sided encounter as Nigeria had to fought tooth and nail to keep off the advancing and high-pressing Canadians from the start.

Canada dominated possession, mounted more threatening attacks, missing a series of chances while Nigeria sat back to defend and foiled the opponents’ press

While playing second fiddle to the Canadians, the Super Falcons hopped on quick counters to launch attacks but managed fewer attempts than Canada in the first 45 minutes.

The first half ended barren with Nigeria stemming off the threats from their more dominant opponents.

Second Half Report

Canada continued to dominate proceedings as the second half kicked off with Nigeria falling back to their half to defend.

It was a game of less fortunes for both sides as they missed a number of chances to take the lead.

Canada had more chances than the Super Falcons firing 15 shots with 3 on target while Nigeria had 10 shots with only on target.

Canada also wielded over 60% of the ball possession and were the unlucky side not to grab a win after dominating the game.

Nigeria put up a good defensive display blocking shots and attempts to drag the game to barren draw after the final whistle.

It was a huge point for the Super Falcons as they prepare for their next two games against Australia and Ireland.
