FT: Costa Rico 1-3 Zambia, Copper Queens Bow Out With WIN! (VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS)

Zambia claimed their first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup victory beating Costa Rica 1-3, MySportDab reports.

The Copper Queens made sure they bow out of the competition with an amazing victory which gave them three points after 90 minutes.

They finished third on the group with them winning just one game in three matches played.

Full Match Report 

The game started well from the African Women who made sure they had everything under their control and dominated play.

Zambia took just three points to open the goal scoring which came through Lushomo Mweemba as things turned 0-1 immediately for them.

Costa Rica were poor and couldn’t manage to make an instant reply as the match carried on with a lot of opportunities happening from them onward.

Another goal came in the 31st minutes from the penalty spot which was well converted by Barbara Banda to ensure the scoreline increased to 0-2 as they pushed on.

The first half came to an end with Zambia taking a 0-2 advantage going into the break against Costa Rica who couldn’t score.

They both came in strong in the second 45 minutes hoping to make something happen to make the match go in their favor.

Melissa Herrera pulled one goal back in the 48th minutes of the second half ensuring Costa Rica made things 1-2 as they played on.

It wasn’t looking like a done deal yet in the match which saw Zambia increasing their lead to 1-3 in the 93rd minutes from Racheal Kundananji.

Zambia ended the match beating Costa Rica 1-3 to claim their first ever victory at the FIFA Women’s World Cup happening in New Zealand and Australia.
