The anticipation for the AFCON 2024 tournament is reaching a fever pitch as Nigeria’s Super Eagles find themselves in Pot 2 for the group stage draw, MySportDab reports

The draw will determine the fate of the teams in the upcoming competition, and Nigeria is set to contend with other formidable teams in their pot.

In addition to Nigeria, Pot 2 includes football powerhouses such as Mali, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Each of these teams will be drawn into distinct groups, each consisting of four teams.

Jose Peseiro’s men emerged as the leaders of their qualifying group, amassing an impressive fifteen points from six games. One of the standout moments of their qualification campaign was a resounding 10-0 victory over São Tomé and Príncipe in 2022.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled this seeded pot through their social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), on Thursday, heightening the excitement for the tournament.

However, the Super Eagles could potentially face a challenging group stage, with the possibility of encountering defending champions Senegal, hosts Cote d’Ivoire, as well as football giants like Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt.

Pot 3 is comprised of South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, Cape Verde, Guinea, 2012 AFCON Champions Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, and Mauritania.

Meanwhile, Pot 4 features Angola, Guinea Bissau, Namibia, Mozambique, Gambia, and Namibia, who are set to make their third-ever appearance at the tournament.

With their sights set on an improved performance, the Super Eagles aim to go further in the competition, bolstered by the addition of key talents like Victor Boniface and Gift Orban, both in remarkable form.

The eagerly anticipated draw ceremony is scheduled to take place in the host nation, Cote d’Ivoire, on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

The AFCON 2024 tournament is set to captivate football enthusiasts from January 13 to February 11, 2024, promising a thrilling showcase of African football talent on the grand stage.
