Sandro Tonali has reportedly agreed to a 10-month ban from football by Italian authorities but is set to feature for the Magpies in Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund at St James Park today, MySportDab reports.
According to report reaching us from Daily Mail, Sandro Tonali will play his final game for Newcastle United today.
Notably, UEFA are said to have objected to him featuring for Newcastle United in the game against Borussia Dortmund due to the ban but they could not go ahead and stop him because Italian authorities have not communicated and implemented the ban officially.
It is believed the needful will be done soon speculatively tomorrow not today hence the former AC Milan man will taste action for the Magpies before finally bidding the fans farewell.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed the delay to the implementation of the ban is necessitated by some technical procedures that had to be followed by both parties before anything is done.
Sandro Tonali’s lawyers is said to be vigorously negotiating all terms and conditions of the ban for clarification and had reportedly played a big role in limiting the duration of the sentence.
Some concessions have been reportedly agreed by the Italian authorities to allow the player to train with Newcastle United to stay in shape while serving the ban.
This means the Italian midfield sensation will work closely with Newcastle United to stay fit but will not play matches for the club or national team till the expiration of the ban.
His ban will run out on August 2023 based on the current arrangement. This means he will miss the entirety of Premier League action this season and early parts of next season.
Also, he will miss 2024 Euros and other key competitions and fixtures.
Tonali was indicted of betting scandal during October international break.
His ban will come as blow to Newcastle United as he was key to the Magpies midfield plan since arriving from AC Milan in the summer.
