Super Eagles Hold Steady at 40th in FIFA World Rankings Despite Recent Matches

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have held their ground, maintaining their 40th position in the latest FIFA World Rankings. Despite a hard-fought draw against Saudi Arabia and a victory over Mozambique, their ranking remains unchanged, MySportDab reports.

This consistency marks a modest performance for the Nigerian national team, which witnessed a notable drop earlier in the year.

In April, they had slipped to the 40th spot after occupying the 35th position in Africa back in December. The primary reason cited for this decline was their non-participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The September rankings sustain their sixth place in Africa, with the top five spots being held by Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt.

As the Super Eagles prepare to face the Lesotho Crocodiles in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo in November, they are aiming for improved results to climb up the rankings.

Their next match against the Zimbabwean Warriors just three days later at the Amarhoro Stadium in Kigali also presents an opportunity to enhance their standing.

It’s clear that the Super Eagles are focused on boosting their FIFA World Rankings and making a mark on the international stage, with a keen eye on future competitions.

While their recent results didn’t significantly impact their position in the rankings, the Super Eagles remain a potent force in African football, and fans eagerly await their upcoming performances to see if they can climb the ladder and continue their pursuit of success in the global arena.
