David de Gea has finally broken his long-held silence amidst swirling rumors of his imminent return to Manchester United, MySportDab reports.

In June, De Gea saw his career at Manchester United come to an end as he could not reach agreement with the club on a new deal.

He was subsequently released from the club and for the first time in his career the Spaniard shotstopper went without a club.

Three months counting since the contract deadlock, De Gea is yet to land a new deal with another club although he has been linked to a number of clubs in Europe, including interests from Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this week, The Sun reported Manchester United were making moves to bring back David de Gea on a short-term deal.

The club wanted De Gea to stand in for Andre Onana who will likely be leaving for 2023 AFCON in January to cushion the effect of the latters prolonged absence.

Amidst the rumour of having David de Gea back at Old Trafford, the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper was seen in a meetup with new Man United captain and former teammate Bruno Fernandes further fueling speculations of his imminent return.

Now, De Gea has finally broken his silence with his usual cryptic social media post amid return links to Old Trafford.

He took to X (formerly, Twitter) to drop a thinking emoji which is obviously a reaction to the rumors of his return to Manchester United.

United fans were quick to react to the post with some fans asking him to come back while others said he should not come back after his inglorious exit underserving of a legendary player.

Should De Gea accept a deal to rejoin Manchester United, it will be the his second spell with the club after his 12 years legendary stint.

He was the last player remaining in Man United squad since Sir Alex Ferguson era and was the last Premier League winning player in the squad.
