Manchester United have now resumed their search for a director of football with Ed Woodward considering some top figures, MySportDab reports.

Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta and Fabio Paratici at Juventus have both been mentioned.

Ed Woodward has considered hiring a director of football to oversee football operations.

According to The Telegraph, Andrea Berta is among those considered for the role and he could be tempted by a move to Old Trafford.

Other director of football options include Paratici and Antero Henrique, who is without a job now after leaving Paris Saint-Germain last year.

United have also been linked to RB Leipzig’s Ralf Rangnick.

MySportDab understands that the role would be ‘wide-ranging’ and involve working in various areas such as recruitment, training ground and women’s football development.

Although, Ed Woodward has decided to hire a director of football, he is no rush to appoint anyone.

The Executive vice-chairman is focused on ending this season and working on the financial problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The director of football will be able to assist Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the management structure.

United’s recruitment has been criticised since Sir Alex Ferguson’s exit but Solskjaer has done well in the transfer windows.

The director of football would also ‘work with the current set-up of Solskjaer, backroom staffs, data analysts, scouts, and United’s chief negotiator Matt Judge’.

Their first big task could be to help United secure the services of Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United are very interested in bringing him back to the Premier League but their financial situation remains unclear.

Manchester United’s recruitment plans will likely depend on whether the club qualify for the Champions League this Sunday.

The Red Devils play against Leicester City on the final day of the Premier League season.
