The French footballer, who is now plying his trade with French side Lorient, has slammed Manchester City with a lawsuit worth millions of pounds.

Mendy is charging the Premier League and European champions to court for ‘unathorised deductions to his wages’ while he was facing trial.

He is wants the club to pay all his wages from September 2021 when they stopped paying to June 2023 when his contract expired.

Mendy’s lawyer Nick De Marco said to Sky;

“Manchester City FC failed to pay Mr Mendy any wages at all from September 2021, following Mr Mendy being charged with various offences all of which he was subsequently acquitted of, until the end of his contract in June 2023. The claim will come before an Employment Tribunal.”

Mendy joined Manchester City from Monaco in 2017 for £52m as the most expensive Premier League defender then.

During his trial, he had to sell his Cheshire mansion to avoid bankruptcy.
