David de Gea could finally settle for a new challenge four months after being freezed out of Manchester United, MySportDab reports.

The Manchester United goalie is now linked to a move to Al Etiffaq – a club managed by Liverpool and Premier League legend Steven Gerrard.

According to reports, Steven Gerrard want to sign the Manchester United legend who has been without a club since leaving Manchester United in June 2023.

The move could see David de Gea joined top former European footballers in Saudi Pro League.

According to The Sun, Al Ettifaq are leading the race to sign David de Gea but other Saudi clubs are also lining up a transfer move for the player.

After being released from Manchester United when his contract expired, David de Gea reportedly had offers from European clubs with Bayern Munich and Inter Milan interested in a move for the player but he turned down the offers due to impasse over wage offer.

He had also attracted offers previously from Saudi clubs with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr among the list of clubs who wanted to sign him.

Al Nassr reportedly offered David de Gea a whooping £500,000 weekly wage but were turned because his wife Edurne Garcia did not want to move to Saudi Arabia.

De Gea won the Golden Glove in his last season with Manchester United for keeping the most cleansheets but he was off ten Hag’s plan as the Dutch wanted a ball playing goalkeeper.

Despite his Man United misfortunes, de Gea is still considered a top and legendary goalkeeper with top clubs interested in his services.

The Spaniard would have settled for a new challenge long after losing his role at Manchester United but it appears he has set his standards too high for suitors.

It remains to be seen whether he will agree to deal with Al Ettifaq with a yet undisclosed offer.
