Manchester City have stumbled to a shock defeat to Newcastle United at Villa Park in a thrilling Premier League encounter, MySportDab reports.

Unai Emery has now proven he is in for the game for a top four finish after he led Villa to an epic and statement win over Manchester City.

Dominated with average players, the former Arsenal and Villarreal manager fired the home side to a big Premier League victory over the star-studded Manchester club.

Far from expectations, Aston Villa took the bull by the horns and dragged the contest with grit and desire against the Premier League champions.

The home side went into the game with a record 14 straight Premier League wins at home but it was thought Guardiola’s giant winning machine will return the team to factory settings with at least a narrow win.

Already, City went into the game at the backdrop of three consecutive winless outings hence needed victory to stay put on the Premier League title race with Arsenal and Liverpool making headway in early kickoffs.

Manchester City had more of the possession but were pegged back by a more solid Aston Villa defense.

Despite coming under intense pressure, Aston Villa maintained a perfect attacking flair and were dangerous charging forward.

With a desire and more hunger for a win, the home side fired 22 shots with 7 on target while Manchester City recorded only 2 attempts with the 2 on target.

Both sides drew blank in the first half as they failed to find the back of the net.

Aston Villa stepped up their game in the second half but it almost ended barren as well before Bailey rose to the occasion with a 74th-minute goal to give the home side the lead.

Manchester City fought virulently to even the scores but could not unsettle Villa’s solid backline.

Bailey’s lone goal turned out the match-winner as Villa held on to grab a narrow and statement win over Manchester City.

The defeat to City have now extended Guardiola’s wait for their first Premier League win to four matches.
