Newcastle United and Saudi club Al-Shabab have reached an agreement to sign Miguel Almiron this summer, MySportDab reports.

According to Ben Jacobs, the two clubs have agreed terms for Almiron but the deal is yet to be concluded.

Almiron, who has been key for the resurgence of the Magpies since last season, is reportedly open to the move.

The 29-year-old Paraguayan attacking midfielder joined Newcastle United on January 31, 2019 from MLS side Atlanta United on a transfer fee believed to be around £21million.

Almiron signed a five-year-and-a-half-year contract with the Magpies and has been key to the rise of the club under Eddie Howe.

The former Lanus attacker entered the final stretch of his contract this January. He was open to contract talks with other clubs as he neared the end of his Newcastle United deal.

Almiron scored his first goal for Newcastle United in a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League in 2020 after coming back for a lengthy spell on sidelines.

He has made 165 Premier League appearances for the Magpies, scoring 23 goals.

Almiron is one of the most decorated Paraguayan footballers. He has won the Paraguayan Footballer of The Year three times in 2017, 2018, and 2022.

He is a two-time winner of the Premier League Goal of the Month Award, having bagged the award in April 2022 and October 2022, including the October Premier League Player of the Month in 2022.

With his five-year stint in the Premier League set to come to an end, the attacking sensation is reportedly ready to take up a new challenge with Al-Shabab, joining the piling list of top European footballers that are trouping into the Saudi elite division.
