Manchester United new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and new CEO Omar Berrada are set to crack down on high-earning Manchester United players with a new wage plan, MySportDab reports.

Manchester United are among top European clubs with a heavy financial outlay for players’ wages. United are just £70m shy of cross-city rivals Manchester City on the wage ladder.

Manchester City’s wage bill is pecked at £400m while Manchester United dolls out £330m in wages for players. While City have matched their huge spending on wages with a concomitant success on field, Unite have managed just one trophy in the last seven seasons.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly unimpressed with Manchester United’s spending on wages given the club’s footballing misfortunes.

According the Mirror, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has directed Omar Berrada to implement his Manchester City-styled wage payment system in which wages are tied to performance ratings of the player.

At City, Omar Berrada is said to have negotiated an optimal wage scale for players depending on their performances for the club.

Berrada is expected to do the same at Manchester United with a drastic wage cut set to be implemented in United squad.

The top five highest-paid players at Manchester United – Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Mount – have fallen off the mark this season.

With the new wage plan in place, United are more likely to peck down wages and as well set new wage template for new recruits into the team.
