Thomas Tuchel was given his marching orders when it appears Bayern Munich were in for a trophyless campaign this season, MySportDab reports.
Three straight defeats – two in the Bundesliga and one in the Champions League – led to the decision By Bayern’s board to part ways with Tuchel.
Nevertheless, he is expected to stay at the helm till the end of the season as the search for his successor continues.
Tuchel signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Bayern Munich and was expected to run out his deal with the Bavarians in 2025.
It has been barely 12 months since he took over the club as manager before the sack decision.
While the former Chelsea boss confirmed he has agreed with the club’s hierarchy to end his contract with the club at the end of the season, he was apparently on grudges with some of his players who wanted him to leave.
In a leaked statement shared by the BILD, Thomas Tuchel was furious with disgruntled elements in his Bayern Munich squad after the sack.
As quoted by BILD, Tuchel addressed the players and said;
“There are no longer discussions every week, everyone knows about it.
“We can still achieve something, we have to win.’
”Everyone can show up for the new coach now.”
Before his sack, there have been reports of a split in Bayern Munich’s dressing room with some players falling out with Thomas Tuchel.
Leading the list of players who clashed with Tuchel and wanted him out of the club were Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, and other top players who were struggling for game time under the German.
Tuchel’s message to the players was apparently directed to the disgruntled players who wanted him to be sacked. He will leave the club at the end of the season with Bayern Munich eyeing Xabi Alonso as his potential successor.
