Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has called on new Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to resist the temptation of sacking him, MySportDab reports.
The Dutch tactician is facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford with United teetering on the brink of missing out of Champions League football next season.
Speaking ahead of United’s crunch Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight, Erik ten Hag admitted it would be disruptive to the team if Sir Jim Ratcliffe decide to part ways with him as Man United manager.
The former Ajax boss made the submission when he was asked whether United’s situation can go down the same lane as Chelsea’s, who are struggling to find their feet after a change of ownership.
“I think you need to follow the process. We have good young players coming through. They are developing very well in their progress.
‘’We are in a good way, a good direction and we need to make the next steps. Don’t interrupt this process,” Ten Hag said.
Far from his brilliant debut spell with the club, Erik ten Hag is struggling to return Man United to gears this term.
There have been reports he could be sacked by Sir Jim Ratcliffe at the end of the season if the stats don’t improve.
Such moves, according to the Dutch, could have a disruptive effect on the team instead, eroding gained grounds.
Erik ten Hag has 14 months left on his Manchester United contract but could see his slated three-year stint with the club cut short at the end of the season.
It is understood Sir Jim Ratcliffe is undecided on the Dutch’s future despite his ongoing revamp and restructuring of the club’s footballing operations.
However, there are suggestions the former Ajax boss is more likely to be shown the exit door should United fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.
