The result came as a shock, but it isn’t over yet as they both will play a return leg in Italy which is expected to be cagey.

Full Match Report

The home side came into the match looking to make sure they gave themselves all the advantage needed on their home ground.

Liverpool did not have it easy as they were frustrated from the kickoff with how their opponent lined up and made everything very difficult going forward.

Things stayed balanced as Atalanta themselves did well enough causing some troubles but nothing was able to happen with the match moving on and remaining goalless.

The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute after a wonderful assist from Davide Zappacosta who was able to pick out Gianluca Scamacca who made things 0-1.

The goal was the only action from the first half which saw Liverpool behind 0-1 against Atalanta after 45 minutes which they needed a response imminently.

It wasn’t looking any way easy for the Reds as they came into the second half pushing to see what they could make happen from their end.

It was Atalanta who doubled their advantage for the game after a sensational goal from Gianluca Scamacca in the 61st minute after being set up by Charles De Ketelaere to make it 0-2.

Liverpool was down and beaten after the second goal which was a brace for the former West Ham United striker as things carried on between both teams on the pitch.

Mario Pasalic made sure it was game over for Liverpool after scoring in the 83rd minute which was the last action as Atalanta recorded a 0-3 victory for the first leg in England.
