Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has broken his silence on Liverpool’s move for him to replace Jurgen Klopp, MySportDab reports.
The Eredivisie winner emerged as a top candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s new manager after the Reds fell out with Portuguese tactician and Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim.
MySportDab understands negotiations between Liverpool and Feyenoord for the services of the 45-year-old is on the fast lane.
Liverpool have reportedly had their first proposal for Slot rejected by Feyenoord but talks is still underway with the Reds looking to seal a deal as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Slot, who is likely in his final weeks with Feyenoord, is interested and optimistic about the potential switch to Merseyside as Liverpool manager.
Speaking after Feyenoord’s 3-1 Eredivisie win over Go Ahead Eagles, the Dutch tactician revealed he can’t wait to make the big to Liverpool and is waiting for greenlights from Feyernood after talks.
”The clubs are negotiating. I am waiting to see what will come out of it.
”It is no secret that I would like to go to Liverpool. Now I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement. I have every confidence in that,” he said.
The Dutch football veteran and former Cambur manager added it would be crazy if he didn’t consider an interest from a club as Liverpool.
‘‘I’m having a great time at Feyenoord, but if there’s a club like Liverpool it would be crazy if you didn’t find that a great next step in your career. The clubs are in talks and I’m waiting for that. That was me before the game and I still am two hours later.’’
It is understood Liverpool has no hiccups with Arne Slot’s representatives and will complete a move for the highly-rated manager after successfully settling terms with Feyenoord.
Feyernood reportedly want £10m compensation for Slot, who has no release clause in his contract.
He is contracted to the club until 2026 but is open to a move to the Premier League in the wake of Liverpool’s interest.
