Mikel Arteta Confirms Transfer Decision On Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed his decision on Gabriel Jesus’ future at the club amidst reports linking the player to an exit in the summer, MySportDab reports.

Gabriel Jesus, 27, joined Arsenal from Manchester City for £45m in 2022 and has been instrumental to the Gunners’ push for the Premier League title in the past two seasons.

The Brazilian got off the mark for the Gunners on his debut campaign, banging in goals for the North London outfit. He struck four times in his first eight Premier League games for the club.

With a scintillating start to life at the Emirates, Jesus was tipped to play a big role in Mikel Arteta’s squad as he easily jelled into the squad, read and perfectly understood Arteta’s tactical script.

However, he would be grounded with a knee injury that ruled him out of action for months and eroded his gains at the club.

Later in the season, the 27-year-old would return to action for the Gunners but was on the peripheries with his competitors – Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard – gaining ground and cementing their place in Arteta’s first team.

Far from his promising first season with the Gunners, Gabriel Jesus is struggling for minutes with the Gunners this term. A recurrent injury crisis seems to have compounded the woes of the former Manchester City star.

With three years left on his contract, reports claimed he could be sold by Arsenal in the summer as the Gunners prepare to strengthen their squad with finer legs in the summer transfer window.

Now, Mikel Arteta has confirmed the club are not making plans to part ways with Gabriel Jesus this summer.

In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Arteta confirmed Jesus is still a key part of the squad and will continue with the club next season.

“I don’t know where this is coming from. No. No we don’t have any intention of letting him leave,” Arteta said.

Gabriel Jesus has made 24 Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season with 8 goal contributions, comprising 4 goals and 4 assists.

The prolific attacking midfielder will be expected to play a big role as the Gunners battle Manchester City for the Premier League title with three matches left to wrap up the season.
