Speaking on the video, Varane said;

“To you guys, supporters of Manchester United, it’s been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wear that shirt,” Varane said in a video posted on social media.

“The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player was insane, the atmosphere was amazing. I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Man United to understand what that represents…”

Manchester United also confirmed Varane’s imminent with a club statement which reads;

“Raphael Varane has confirmed he will leave Manchester United in the summer, upon the expiry of his contract, following three seasons at Old Trafford.

“The much-decorated defender arrived at the club from Real Madrid in August 2021 and was memorably unveiled in front of our home fans at the Theatre of Dreams, before the opening-weekend win over Leeds United.

Varane joined Manchester United in 2021 from Real Madrid. He won the EFL Cup with the club in the 2022/23 season and was instrumental to Erik ten Hag’s Man United squad until this season when he struggled for game time due to injuries.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, United refused to renew his contract we rh Sir Jim Ratcliffe intent on cutting costs and parting ways with high-earners in the squad who are underperforming.

The French defender has been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr among the list of Saudi clubs interested in his services.
