French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille have opened talks and submitted their offer to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, MySportDab reports
According to a report shared by Fabrizio Romano, the Ligue 1 outfit are now leading the race for the 22-year-old and are closer to agreeing a deal for the player.
An undisclosed official bid has been tabled and talks between Manchester United and the Ligue 1 side is reportedly progressing.
They have reportedly made Mason Greenwood their prime target and are ready to throw their weight into the deal.
MySportDab understands Greenwood has one year left on his Manchester United contract with the club open to a all transfer options possible.
They are open to an outright sale with a buy-out clause, including a permanent transfer exit as well. The decision to let Greenwood leave followed the club’s initial decision to have him restart his career away from the club after internal investigations into the alleged assault charges which was subsequently dropped by the prosecutors.
With his Old Trafford coming to an end, the winger is equally ready to continue his career elsewhere following his return from loan. The Sun reportedly he had put up his £2million residential property in Cheshire for sale as he prepares for life away from Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Olympique Marseille are not the only club interested in a move for Greenwood. Serie A side Lazio are also in the mention of clubs interested in the youngster but, as things stand, it appears Olympique Marseille are likely to win the race.
Greenwood made a roaring return to action at Getafe, scooter 8 goals with 6 assists to record his highest goal contributions in his career.
He won the club’s Player of The Season Award after an impressive 6-month loan spell and will hope to continue his prolific return as he closes in on joining Olympique Marseille.
