Chelsea have unveiled the club’s new signing Caleb Wiley from MLS side Atlanta United, MySportDab reports.
In a report shared on the club’s website, the Blues confirmed the signing of the highly-rated defender on a six-year contract till 2030.
Wiley will reportedly be sent on loan to Strasbourg to further hone his footballing skills before returning the club.
Playing as a defender, Caleb Wiley is known for his strength and solid performance at the back and has been crucial for Atlanta United in the MLS.
He began his career in 2016, playing for Atlanta United Youth before transitioning to the club’s reserve team in 2020. Playing with the reserve team for one season, Caleb Wiley registered 33 appearances for the side.
The next year, he was promoted to the club’s first team, where he made 77 MLS appearances, scoring 6 goals.
On the international scene, Caleb Wiley played for USA U-17s in 2020, making 3 appearances with the team before transitioning to U-20s in 2021. He made 10 appearances with the U-20s, scoring one goal.
In 2023, he was called up for USA U23 side, were he made 5 appearances. The same year, he earned hi first senior national team call-up and has been capped twice.
Willey joins the piling list of Chelsea’s new signings this summer, featuring former Fulham defender Tosin Aderabioyo, Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The youngster will hope to continue on his promising campaign with the Blues as he opens an exciting new chapter with the Premier League outfit.
