Chelsea star Cole Palmer is a source of concern to the fans due to an apparent injury after the club’s Europa Conference League play-off against Servette on Friday, MySportDab reports.
Chelsea aced to a 2-0 win over Servette to kick off their Conference League campaign on a winning note. Former RB Leipzig midfielder Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring for the Blues after he won and converted his spot-kick five minutes into the second half.
Noni Madueke then added to the tally, smashing in the second goal following a great assist by Argentina international Enzo Fernandez. After leading by two goals up, the Blues were enroute to a deserved victory to hand Enzo Maresca his first win as Chelsea manager.
However, the celebrations was spoiled with an injury scare for Cole Palmer. Palmer did not start the match as Enzo Maresca gave a chance to fringe players to prove their mettle. The England star was later subbed on in the second half two minutes before the hour mark.
It was an underwhelming performance by the generational talent, who impressed last season with an astonishing 24 goals with 13 assists in all competitions.
After the match, he sparked injury fears after being caught on camera showing distress and pain in the tunnel after the match.
The footage has generated concerns among fans, who will hope to have the player return to action the next Premier League fixrure against Wolves.
Enzo Maresca confirmed the player had a slight discomfort but hoped he will be back to action.
“Cole, he felt something but he looks fine.
“They already checked him, he looks fine and OK.
“Hopefully there is no problem and he can be available for Sunday’s game,” he said.
The Blues will hope to count on the services of the youngster again as they hope to turn a corner away from the opening Premier League defeat to Manchester City when taking on Wolves at the weekend.
