Sparta Prague striker Victor Olatunji has been in the headlines, especially after a memorable UEFA Champions League debut in which he scored and created an assist, MySportDab Reports.

The Nigerian forward became the first Nigerian player to achieve such a feat in his debut appearance in Europe’s premier competition.

Despite shining brightly at club level, Olatunji has remained uncapped for the Nigerian national team, but the 25-year-old hopes his performances may soon catch the attention of the Super Eagles’ selectors.

In an interview with *Blesk*, Olatunji spoke of his ambitions and a strong desire to represent Nigeria on the international stage. “It is a big goal for every young player, especially for us Nigerians,” Olatunji said. “Just wearing a green jersey and an eagle emblem will give a player motivation. He will realize that he represents a country of more than 220 million people, and that makes him work with all his heart.

He is yet to be called up by the national team, but Olatunji remains hopeful, trusting that his continuing good form for Sparta Prague will soon result in a call-up.

Supplementing his statements on international ambition, Olatunji paid homage to two of his idols in Cristiano Ronaldo and ex-Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo. His goal celebrations, he said, nod to Ronaldo, whose work ethic and ability have inspired Olatunji throughout his career. “I want to be the same,” he explained his admiration for Ronaldo. “Unfortunately, he is no longer playing in the Champions League, so with this celebration, I am reminding him of what he accomplished in this competition.

Olatunji also spoke fondly of Ighalo, citing him as an influential player in his growth as a striker. “Several strikers have inspired me, most probably Odion Ighalo, who shone in the Premier League. I really love that!

Olatunji has scored six goals in fifteen appearances for Sparta Prague this season, and has continued to impress in both domestic and European competitions. Outside of football, the forward enjoys listening to gospel music and loves traditional Nigerian dishes, but most especially amala.
