Bournemouth secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in a dramatic Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium.
Arsenal’s unbeaten run this season came to an abrupt end, largely due to a red card for William Saliba after just 30 minutes.
Saliba was initially shown a yellow card for his foul on Bournemouth’s Evanilson, but after a VAR review, the decision was upgraded to a red.
The reversed decision left Arsenal with 10 men for the remainder of the match which saw them unable to survive the 90 minutes.
Despite holding on for much of the game, Arsenal’s defense was finally breached in the 70th minute when Ryan Christie opened the scoring to 1-0.
Justin Kluivert added a second goal just nine minutes later from the penalty spot 2-0, after David Raya fouled Evanilson in the box.
This defeat was Arsenal’s first of the season, and they sorely missed the influence of Bukayo Saka, who was out injured.
The result marks a significant setback for Mikel Arteta’s side, who could have gone top of the league with a win.
However, they now face the challenge of bouncing back with key games ahead, including a Champions League fixture.
