Man United Begs Man City For A Lift to Ballon d’Or Ceremony

Manchester United have reportedly begged their neighbors Manchester City for a lift to the Ballon d’Or Award Ceremony in France, MySportDab reports.

The Red Devils have two players – Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo – nominated in the Golden Boy Award category for the Young Player of the Year.

Manchester City has eight nominees for the award with the likes of Erling Haaland, Rodri, and Phil Foden headlining Citizens’ contingents for the ceremony.

MySportDab learnt Manchester City have a charted private flight to transport all their eight nominees for the award to the Ceremony.

United reportedly wanted to squeeze their only two nominees – Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo – into City’s chartered flight.

They reportedly approached the cross-city rivals asking if the two players can join their flight but were turned down, per Daily Mail.

City reportedly rejected the plea as they deemed it infeasible onboarding Garnacho and Mainoo among their contingents.

It is understood United’s decision to shop for a makeshift lift for the two players is due to the club’s ongoing cost-cutting measures by new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe reportedly seems inefficient cost-wise chartering a separate flight for the two players. Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, United’s next plan to ferry Garnacho and Mainoo to France has yet to be disclosed.

MySportDab understands Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not slowing down on his decision to cut cost and trim down the club’s spending for efficiency.

He recently terminated Sir Alex Ferguson’s long-running 2m-a-year ambassadorial deal as part of the cost-cutting exercise.
