Manchester City have confirmed that winger Riyad Mahrez and defender Aymeric Laporte have both tested positive for coronavirus, MySportDab reports.
They will now stay in self-isolation but they are not showing symptoms of being affected by the virus.
The English Premier League new season starts this Saturday and Pep Guardiola’s team face Wolves on September 21.
This means that Mahrez and Laporte could both miss the match.
The positive result is a big concern to the Premier League generally as the new season starts.
Manchester City confirmed via a statement: ‘Manchester City can confirm that Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez have both tested positive for Covid-19.
‘Both players are now in self-isolation with follows the Premier League and UK Health protocol on quarantine.
