Manchester City suffered their biggest defeat in the UEFA Champions League, losing their matchday four clash away to Sporting Lisbon, MySportDab reports.

The Premier League champions were stunned by Sporting in a thrilling Champions League clash.

England and Premier League Player of the Year Phil Foden got the visitors in front just four minutes into the game.

The youngster scored a stunner to set the stage for a dramatic and frenetic finish to proceedings.

Eight minutes after the half-hour, Sporting Lisbon fought back to level the score. Vitor Gyokeres scored to make it 1-1, as the first half ended with the score tied.

City continued on their dominant performance in the second half but were undone by a more deadly and prolific attacking arsenal by Sporting Lisbon led by Gyokeres.

A minute into the second half, Sporting Lisbon completed the comeback. Araujo scored from Goncalves’ assist to make it 2-1.

Three minutes after Araujo’s goal, Manchester City conceded a penalty and Gyokeres converted it with an aplomb to extend the lead.

Going down 3-1 with just five minutes into the second half was unfathomable for City. They made a concerted effort to find their way into the game by ramping up pressure on the hosts but could not break the deadlock.

Haaland had a chance to pull the visitors back into the game when City won a penalty in the 69th minute but he missed the spot-kick.

Meanwhile, nine minutes before regulation, Sporting Lisbon dealt a final blow to the visitors’ comeback hopes.

Gyokeres scored from the spot again in the 81st minute to make it 4-1 for the Portuguese champions.

The game ended with Sporting Lisbon grabbing a shocking 4-1 victory to maintain their unbeaten start to the Champions League campaign while City settled for their biggest UCL loss in years.
