As expected a crop of players in the Man United squad are set to drop to the chopping block under new manager Ruben Amorim, MySportDab reports.
The Portuguese tactician has already begun head-on with implementing his new tactical scripts at the club and those deemed ‘unfit’ will be phased out.
After his opening Premier League match against Ipswich, Amorim dropped raving reviews on some of the players and their suitability for his signature 3-4-3 style.
The likes of Noussair Mazraoui, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Alejandro Garnacho were lauded by the new boss as reliable options for the team, including Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund.
The second match – a Europa League clash against Bodo/Glimt – also afforded Amorim a chance to further assess fringe players in the squad with the likes of Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and others given a chance to prove their mettle and adaptability to the new tactical plan.
Joshua Zirkzee seemed to have fallen off the pecking in Ruben Amorim’s new tactical plan with the Dutch now linked to a move away from the club.
After the Ipswich match, Amorim singled out the forward for his unimpressive input, particularly his inability to make runs into the box.
Now, according to the Italian outlet, La Gazzetta, Zirkzee is pushing for a possible January exit from United with a reunion with his former manager Thiago Motta at Juventus on the cards.
Since joining United in the summer from Bologna, Zirkzee has managed only one goal in 18 appearances for Manchester United and has played a bit-part role at the club.
It is unlikely he will break even into Ruben Amorim’s Man United setup hence the decision to push for a transfer exit in January.
At Bologna under Thiago Motta, Zirkzee played a crucial role, scoring 12 goals in 37 appearances as the Serie A giants broke into the Serie A top four and qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
