Real Madrid have thrown their weight on signing Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot in the summer, MySportDab reports.
The Portuguese top-rated right-back has emerged as a prime wing-back target for the La Liga and European champions who are looking to boost their defense ranks.
Dalot is the second Premier League defender targeted by Los Blancos after Liverpool and England sensation Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Arnold, who has yet to sign a new contract with Liverpool, has been strongly linked with a move to the La Liga club with reports that negotiations has began for a possible summer transfer.
However, the move has been reportedly marred with uncertainties as the 26-year-old has yet to give a greenlight to a possible switch to Santiago Bernabeu despite not signing a new contract with Liverpool yet.
Now, Dalot has emerged as a possible alternative for Real Madrid should they fail to seal a deal for the services of the England star.
According to Spanish outlets, Madrid aren’t just interested in the Dalot move but ready to splash as much as £50m on the defender.
Nevertheless, it will not be a seamless transfer process for Los Blancos. Dalot signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United in 2023, committing to the club on a five-year deal till 2028.
He has been a key part of the squad and has been tipped to play a big role in Ruben Amorim’s new setup at Old Trafford.
This season, the Portuguese has garnered 13 Premier League appearances for Man United despite playing under three different managers and is expected to break even in Amorim’s setup.
Hence, a move to Santiago Bernabeu may be unlikely despite the potent interest from the La Liga giants.
