His most notable performance this season came against Manchester City in Champions League Matchday 4 clash where he netted a hat-trick to seal a thumping 4-1 victory over the Premier League champions at the Jose Alvalade Stadium in Portugal.

The brilliant start to the campaign has made him a top target for elite European clubs with Manchester United leading the race for his services.

United also boosted their chances of signing Gyokeres after bringing onboard former Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim as their new manager.

Amorim has been credited for Gyokeres’ explosive form with the player reportedly open to a possible reunion with the former manager at Manchester United.

Now, according to reports from various outlets, United have stepped up their move for Gyokeres by beginning negotiations with the forward.

He is contracted to Sporting Lisbon till 2027 but could leave should the Portuguese champions bag a suitable offer.

As expected, United new manager Ruben Amorim is expected to play a great role as the club build momentum in the race for Gyokeres.
