Probably the most thrilling race towards the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year in the history of the competition, five outstanding players were named finalists vying probably for the most coveted individual prize this evening at Palais des Congres in Marrakech, Morocco in a ceremony starting at 19:00 local time, MySportDab Reports

The nominees are:

Simon Adingra (Cote D’Ivoire)
The Brighton & Hove Albion winger stood tall for the Elephants en route to the TotalEnergies AFCON title, scoring that crucial 90-minute equaliser in the quarterfinal and then providing two assists in the final against Nigeria to be voted Best Young Player.

Serhou Guirassy (Guinea)
He did that at Borussia Dortmund off the back of his record-breaking 30-goal season on his way to 23 times for club and country in 2024, including a hat trick against Ethiopia in the AFCON Qualifiers.

Achraf Hakimi – Morocco
He won Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France with Paris Saint-Germain, contributing to Morocco claiming bronze at the Paris Olympics. He had scored in AFCON too and remains an important cog in the national team.

Ademola Lookman (Nigeria)

That was the stellar season that had Lookman seal the UEFA Europa League title with Atalanta netting a hat-trick in the final before starring for Nigeria as they finished runners-up at the AFCON and were named in the Team of the Tournament.

Ronwen Williams (South Africa)

The custodian at Mamelodi Sundowns had critical saves in South Africa’s bronze medal finish at AFCON and also managed a defense record with his club to capture a seventh straight league title. It is on this very stage that, at sundown, African football excellence will be celebrated with high decibels.
