Manchester United have reportedly put up Marcus Rashford for sale in what will draw the curtain on the 27-year-old’s nine years career with the Red Devils, MySportDab reports.
Rashford has struggled to pick up his pace since last season but suddenly roared back to form recently following the arrival of United’s new manager Ruben Amorim.
However, his drastic gains in the Amorim’s setup was eroded yesterday when he failed to make the Portuguese’ matchday squad for the Manchester Derby.
MySportDab understood that the England international, who was dropped alongside teammate and Argentine sensation Alejandro Garnacho, was not injured or facing any medical situation that would have necessitated the shock exclusion.
Despite his dwindling fortunes, he had always been a bulwark against City and his omission from the crucial fixture came more as a surprise to United fans.
Asked on why he dropped the player after the match, Ruben Amorim revealed it was not due to a disciplinary issue but the players’ dropping standards, including Garnacho’s.
The former Sporting CP boss added that he had no option than to axe the duo out of the matchday squad since they couldn’t measure up in training but would hope to have them back fighting for their place.
However, a report by The Guardian has revealed Rashford is out of Ruben Amorim’s plans with the Portuguese ready to part ways with the homegrown player as part of his plans to develop his team and rebuild the squad.
Rashford has played at senior level for Manchester United for nine years since his breakout 2015-16 campaign under Jose Mourinho.
He has racked up 426 appearances, scoring 138 goals with 64 assists in all competitions and has been strongly linked with a move to PSG lately. Meanwhile, United are eyeing Sporting CP attacking sensation Viktor Gyokeres as a viable replacement option.
